Eclisse table lamp by Artemide designed in 1965 by Vico Magistretti is one of the most relevant industrial design products of the 20th Century and one of the symbols of Italian design worldwide, displayed in the permanent collections of Triennale Design Museum in Milan and New York's MOMA. In 1967 it received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro Award.
The first 'dimmable' light, Eclisse was inspired by the simple shapes of miners' lanterns and comprises three 'semi-spheres', the base, the external fixed cover and the internal cover that can be manually rotated to control the light, reminding of a lunar eclipse. A perfect combination of simple technology and aestethics based on primary shapes.
